Mettler Metallic thread has the brilliance of colour of Mettler Polysheen 40 and is used for creating special light effects. This makes it particularly well suited for embroidery and decorative uses.
It is also a strong thread with a small amount of give. That makes it resitant to breaking and easy to use. Whilst suitable for hand embroidery and free motion machine embroidery, this thread is not recommended for high speed digitised embroidery.
For machine sewing, we strongly recommend you use a Schmetz Metallic needle size 80. Alternatively, a Topstitch 90 needle would be suitable. For hand sewing, we recommend a John James Embroidery 9 needle. We also recommend using a silicon lubricant such as 'Thread Heaven' as that reduces the friction between the thread and the needle eye.
Mettler Metallic thread is:
- Machine washable up to 60 degrees centigrade
- Safe to iron to 1-dot heat
- Not safe to tumble dry
- Safe to dry clean
