Madeira Metallic is a high quality metallic thread that is suitable for hand and machine sewing and quilting. Whilst also suitable for hand embroidery and free motion machine embroidery, this thread is not recommended for high speed digitized embroidery.

Madeira is a well-established brand for metallic threads. The thread has a rayon core with a metallic wrap and runs smoothly through the machine.

For machine sewing, we strongly recommend you use a Schmetz Metallica 80 needle. Schmetz Metallica needles have a slightly different shaped eye which is also teflon coated. This reduces the friction between the thread and the needle eye and reduces the risk of the metallic wrap being broken and the thread all gathering up in a bundle. Alternatively, a Topstitch 90 needle would be suitable.

For hand sewing, we recommend a John James Embroidery 9 needle. We also recommend using a silicon lubricant such as 'Thread Heaven' as that reduces the friction between the thread and the needle eye.

Madeira Metallic 40 is safe to:

• Wash at up to 60 degrees centrigrade
• Tumble dry on Low
• Iron on 1-dot
