Heat-n-Bond Ultra is a paper-backed, solid fabric adhesive that is idea for bonding two pieces of fabric together, for example in raw edge applique, as an alternative to pinning or basting. To use it:
1 - Gently iron your Heat-n-Bond to the wrong side of your applique fabric. Iron with the paper side of the Heat-n-Bond uppermost so that the iron doesn't touch the web fusible. No steam or pressing cloth is needed. This bonds the wrong side of your applique fabric to the Heat-n-Bond so you have a layer of fabric, a layer of glue on top of that, and a layer of paper on top of the glue to protect the glue.
2 - Now draw (in mirror image) the shape you require onto the paper backing of the Heat-n-Bond.
3 - Cut the shape out, using a pair of sharp pointed scissors.
4 - Peel the paper backing off the prepared shape. This exposes the glue that is on the wrong side of your applique fabric.
5 - Position the applique shape glue-side down onto your background fabric, then press lightly into place. This bonds your applique fabric to your background fabric. You may wish to stitch decoratively around the edge, using a hand or machine blanket stitch or other decorative stitch.
Heat-n-Bond is 43cm (17") wide. This listing is per metre off the roll - i.e. an order of two quantities will give you a sheet that measures 43cm wide x 2m long. Your purchase will be delivered folded in a bubble envelope.
