Steam-a-Seam 2 is a fabric adhesive which we sell by the metre. It's perfect for applique and other uses where fabrics need to be bonded together.
Steam-A-Seam 2 Double Stick has the pressure sensitive on both sides which allows for a temporary hold to both the appliqué material and the background material. You can hold your project vertically and the appliqué pieces stay in place and are still repositionable until fused with an iron. Before fusing, tack your project to a wall or try on a garment to check appliqué placement. You're able to reposition pieces while you're wearing them. Once fused the bond is the same as the original Steam-A-Seam.
How to use:
1- Smoothe Steam-a-Seam by hand to the wrong side of the applique fabric.
2- Draw (in mirror image) the required shape onto the paper backing of Steam-a-Seam.
3- Cut the shape out, using a pair of sharp pointed scissors.
4- Peel the paper backing off the prepared shape.
5- Position the applique shape onto the background fabric, then press lightly into place with your fingers. Reposition if necessary. Most people then stitch decoratively around the edge, using a hand or machine blanket stitch or other decorative stitch.
Nothing is permanent until pressed with an iron. If you change your mind about the appliqué fabric you are using, simply peel off Steam-A-Seam and stick it to new fabric.
Since you haven't fused Steam-A-Seam to your applique material, you can remove it from your fabric scraps and use both the excess fabric and Steam-A-Seam for other projects. There is no waste.
Can be laundered or dry cleaned.
