SCHMETZ SEWING MACHINE NEEDLES - JEANS - SIZE 70/10
Schmetz needles are amongst the finest engineered sewing machine needles in the world.
Schmetz Jeans Needles have strong shafts and very sharp points. In terms of application and use, they are almost interchangeable with Schmetz Microtex 70 needles. Their sharp points and strong, yet slim, shafts also make them useful for patchwork piecing, working monofilament blind hem stitch and stitching through Bondaweb layers. This is the needle that Dawn Cameron-Dick recommends for Invisible Machine Applique.
These size 70 needles are perfect for light weight cotton, silk or blended threads. The groove on this needle will fit most light weight 2-ply cotton threads, labelled 60-weight or similar. (Superior Masterpiece is labelled 50 weight, but fits this needle.) YLI Soft Touch or Superior Masterpiece, coupled with this needle, makes a good patchwork piecing combination.
This pack contains five (5) needles. Always use a sharp new needle for quilting. If skipped stitches occur when using this needle, you are probably using the wrong needle size. Try changing to a size 80/12 Microtex. If holes are left in closely woven fibres, change to a lighter thread and a size 60/8 Microtex needle. This needle can be used successfully with monofilment (invisible) threads, but we recommend the size 60 Microtex for use with monofilament.
