What makes a good bobbin thread? Low lint, light enough to fit lots on each bobbin, strong but smooth, thin enough to sink into the back of the quilt -- these are all great features in a bobbin thread. We recommend YLI Soft Touch and Superior Masterpiece, which are both 2-ply cottons, made from 100% Egyptian cotton. We also recommend Bottomline which is the thinnest polyester bobbin thread we've come across. For piecing, Soft Touch and Masterpiece are again excellent choices. They are thin, have a soft feel, and are strong for their weight. We also recommend Aurifil 50 weight which is the finest thread of the Aurifil range.
