ODIF 505 Fabric Spray
This is a temporary adhesive spray mainly used in P&Q for basting quilts together, but also suitable for any fabric craft or for use on paper. Widely used in embroidery for basting stabilizers to back of work. 505 Spray is odorless, spotless and does not gum needles. Spray at a distance of 25-30cm and spray only a very thin layer.
Instuctions to baste the three layers of a quilt together using ODIF 505 Spray:
1- Ensure that each of the three layers (quilt top, quilt back and wadding) are wrinkle free.
2- Smoothe the wadding so that it is flat and free of wrinkles.
3- Spray a very light layer of 505 spray across the middle third of the wadding. Fold quilt back in thirds. Begining in the middle of the quilt, smoothe the quilt back outward from the middle until the centre third is adhered to the wadding.
4- Lightly spray the top of the wadding and then, smoothing outward from the middle, adhere the top of the quilt back to the wadding.
5- Repeat process with lower third of the quilt back. If you notice any bumps or irregularities once you finish, lift the quilt back from the wadding (the spray is repositionable), and re-smoothe until you are satisfied.
6- Turn the wadding/backing over and repeat the process on the front, adhering the quilt top to the front of the wadding.
Remember that fabric and paper are repositionable. Launder quilt when finished, to remove any spray residue from layers.
