King Tut is made by Superior Threads and imported from the USA. King Tut thread is amongst the premier ranges of variegated threads available here in the UK. It's low lint character means less tangling when hand quilting, less mess in the bobbin and less breakage when machine stitching. It is classed as a 40 weight, 3-ply thread and is made from extra-long staple Egyptian-grown cotton. It is thick enough to be decoratively visible on top of the fabric rather than sinking in like heirloom weight threads do, but it is still thin enough to ride very easily through the needle and thread mechanisms of the sewing machine. All of the King Tut variegated colors have a precise one-inch color change interval. Suitable for hand or machine quilting. For best results when machine quilting, use with a Schmetz Quilting 90 needle. We recommend Superior Masterpiece, YLI Soft Touch or Aurifil Mako 50 thread in the bobbin when machine quilting with King Tut.
