Curved Safety Pins
Jumbo pack (150 pcs) of curved safety pins for basting (pinning) the three layers of a quilt together in order to stabilize the quilt before the quilting process.
These pins safety pins have a little curve in them. The reason for this curve is so that when you are pinning through the layers of a quilt from the top side of the quilt, it is easier to push the pointed end of the pin back up through the layers to the top of the quilt in order to close it. This makes the job of pin-basting a whole lot easier. These safety pins are 38mm in length and are hardened and tempered, so they're good and sturdy. They won't rust (some cheaper brands do, which can be a disaster if left in a pale coloured quilt for too long), and can be re-used for years on end.
These safety pins are the slightly longer variety which makes them a little easier to use through multiple layers of cloth and wadding. Supplied in hinged, snap-snut plastic box.
Meg's Verdict: I've found that these curved pins help to relieve hand strain when I'm pin basting prior to machine quilting. I am right-handed and found that if I hold a spoon in my left hand and push down on the quilt in front of the pin point, these pins can be inserted into a quilt very quickly and easily. They pop up to the top really nicely.
