This beautiful selection of 40 weight Aurifil thread colours was chosen by quilt designer, author and lecturer Sharon Pederson to complement her Rose of Sharon quilt project, but of course the threads are wonderful in their own right and will enhance any thread 'stash'. These beautiful 40 weight Aurifil threads are ideal for machine quilting, piecing and blanket stitch machine applique. Each 30g spool of Aurifil 40 has approximately 1094 yards (1000m) of thread on it, so they represent very good value for money.
Aurifil threads are manufactured in Italy. The Aurifil cotton threads are reknowned worldwide for their beautiful quality. They are very smooth to use, strong and reliable, made from extra long staple cotton fibres of the highest quality. Aurifil cotton threads are known for for their lustre, largely due to the detailed mercerisation process during manufacturing. Aurifil thread is also known for its very low lint levels, making it one of the (if not THE) premium threads available here in the UK.
We stock Aurifil in four weights -- Mako 50 is the finest of the Aurifil cotton threads and is classed as a 50/2 thread. Mako 40 is recommended for machine quilting, general use, decorative applique; Mako 28 for hand quilting, decorative embroidery, topstitch; and Mako 12 for Sashiko, hand embroidery -- see our other Aurifil listings. Mako 40 is a beautiful general purpose thread which is ideal for general sewing and for machine quilting.

Aurifil thread in large 30g spools normally sells for £7.60 per spool, but here as a special purchase in a boxed set of 12, each spool works out to just £6.20 each, saving £1.40 per spool.
