Appliqué and Sequin Pins
These appliqué and sequins pins come in really handy for securing appliqué patches to a background fabric and also for securing the folded seam allowances of appliqué patches over template papers prior to hand basting. There are approximately 800 very fine, shap pins supplied in a small plastic lidded box. The tiny appliqué pins are only 1/2" in length. Because the pins are very small, multiple pins can be secured into small patches without the pins crossing each other. And because the ends of the pins won't protrude far out of the work, there's less chance of your sewing thread looping around the pins as you stitch.
As the product name suggests, these are also the pins to use for securing sequins into styrofoam bases or for securing folded patchwork and ribbons onto styrofoam shapes, such as when making fabric covered Christmas baubles or fabric covered Easter Eggs.
Meg's verdict: these pins are quite useful for securing small fiddly pieces like leaves and petal centres onto an appliqué project. Although the use of these pins doesn't completely eradicate the problem of the sewing thread constantly looping around the securing pins, I found that they really helped to reduce the problem, so I had to stop a lot less often to untangle the thread compared to when I was using ordinary straight pins.
